Welcome to 50 for 50!

I'm turning 50 years old this year, and so are some of my friends: Brad Swartzentruber, Scott Bullock, Scott Daniels, Kenny Becker, Brent Carpenter and Jon Beals. At my age - our age - I don't need presents. And if you know me, you might remember I've spent years eliminating clutter from my life. I certainly don't want to add to the current clutter by receiving things and stuff for my birthday.

Although I've never been one to want a big birthday celebration for myself, I decided that turning 50 is a big enough deal to have a big party. But rather than having a party to celebrate myself, I wanted to use the occassion to celebrate something else. Because International and The Shoe that Grows seemed like a perfect fit (fit - see what I did there?).

Once the idea came together, I realized that if I was turning 50 this year, some of my friends would be also. So I talked with Brad Swartzentruber about joining the party. He also thought it would be a great idea to raise money for some shoes. I was able to recruit my oldest friend (he's still turning 50, but we've been friends since we were 12) Kenny Becker. Then my college roommate Scott Bullock, then Scott Daniels and Brent Carpenter joined the party.

The five of them are highly influential people:

Brad Swartzentruber is a CEO. Scott Bullock is a successful real estate and insurance agent. Scott Daniels is a senior pastor. Kenny Becker is a head athletic trainer. And Brent Carpenter has lived in the Nampa area forever, and helps lead the biggest bus company around. Imagine the influence this group of people has to create positive change in the area and to support practical compassion.

You, the one reading this page, you are probably a friend or family member of one or more of this group. And we need your help. Please consider donating $50 to celebrate our 50th birthdays.

On Saturday July 23, 2016, we'll be having a birthday party at the Liberty Park pavilion in Nampa. Please come by and share some cake and some stories with us. The party will be from 11am to 1pm. Invite your friends too. Even if they don't know who we are, they can still donate to Because International.

Help us support Because International and The Shoe That Grows by making a donation. The process is fast, easy, and secure. We truly appreciate any support you can provide. It will benefit a great cause!

If you can't make a donation at this point, help us reach our goal by sharing this page on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram! Or, even better, send an e-mail to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to our page!

Thanks so much for your generosity!
